Human Kindness

Yesterday I witnessed human kindness in its greatest form.
A relative of mine had broken down at a gas station and had her little boy with her. She could not call her husband to come and pick her up because he was in the hospital (where she was headed after getting gas) and could not help her. Many people at the gas station passed her by just glancing over at her with her hood up and a very lost look on her face. She did not know what to do.
Finally a group of people looked over at her and she simply said, "Yes, I do." These people knew that she needed help. They pushed her vehicle away from the gas pump and into a parking spot where they diagnosed the problem. Her alternator was fried. Not only did these people diagnose the problem, they took out the old alternator, went to the auto parts store and purchased a new one for her and installed it.
I am in awe of these people. They remind me of my father who used to do the same thing all the time when I was a kid. He still helps people all the time as well and just like the men that helped out this relative, never asks for anything in return.
The men who sacrificed such a large amount of their time on a Sunday afternoon to help someone that they had never met are truly examples to me of what it means to be Christlike. Not only did they stay to make sure her vehicle was running fine, but they did not want anything in return and had about three hours to drive to get back home.
